Pastel Poise: A Symphony of Sculpted Forms and Chromatic Calm

In an era where "minimalism" often translates to a sterile vacuum of greys, Studio Kalavrit presents an evocative antithesis. Nestled in the heart of Vadodara, the Pastel Poise Residence is a 1,700-square-foot masterclass in "intentional vibrancy." It is a space where soft geometry doesn’t just define the layout, it dictates the emotion.

The genius of this 3BHK apartment lies in its restraint. Principal Architect Rishabh Prajapati steered the project away from structural overhauls, choosing instead to lean into the transformative power of surface articulation. The result is a narrative of tactile storytelling, where every wall is a canvas and every material choice is a deliberate heartbeat.

The Art of the Entry: A Tactile Prologue

The journey begins in a foyer that immediately rejects the mundane. A hand-painted mural of Pichwai-inspired cows set against a bold, terracotta-pink backdrop serves as a high-contrast welcome. It is traditional art filtered through a contemporary lens, flanked by fluted cabinetry and soft, curved edges that guide the eye toward the expansive living area.

Living & Dining: A Dialogue in Berry and Blush

The living room is anchored by a sofa in a deep berry hue, a confident splash of color that feels grounded against the airy neutrals of the walls. Here, the design intent is clear: curves over corners. From the organic silhouette of the coffee tables to the sweeping arched molding on the walls, the space feels fluid and restorative.

  • The Focal Point: A circular, mixed-media wall installation mimics the textures of a lunar landscape, adding a layer of rugged tactile depth to the otherwise smooth surfaces.

  • The Spatial Divide: Eschewing heavy walls, the dining area is partitioned by ethereal, hand-painted floral screens. These wooden-framed panels act as light-filtering veils, maintaining an open-plan feel while offering a sense of curated intimacy.

The Culinary Niche: Pastel Serenity

The kitchen and breakfast bar continue the home’s commitment to "soft drama." A mint-green under-counter palette meets a terrazzo-finish breakfast ledge, supported by a singular, bold wooden arch. It is a functional corner that feels like a piece of sculptural furniture, illuminated by sleek, minimalist shelving and meticulously styled to highlight the warmth of the home.

The Private Sanctuaries: Three Bedrooms, Three Identities

While the public spaces foster conversation, the bedrooms are deep dives into personalized emotional material storytelling.

The Terracotta Suite: A feminine retreat defined by ribbed shutters and arched mirrors. The palette here is a sophisticated gradient of blush and clay, creating a cocoon-like warmth.

The Botanical Cane Room: Grounded in earthiness, this room celebrates Indian craft. A hand-carved botanical artwork panel serves as the headboard’s crown, beautifully complemented by the rhythmic weave of cane and warm veneer.

The Abstract Maroon Chamber: Perhaps the most daring expression in the house, this room features a sweeping, hand-painted mountainscape that extends from the wall onto the ceiling. It is an immersive art installation that turns the act of resting into an experience of being within a painting.

The Aakaar Edit

Studio Kalavrit has achieved a total spatial metamorphosis without moving a single brick. By utilizing a sophisticated palette of wicker, ribbed glass, and matte laminates, they have proven that the true soul of a home lies in the layers we touch and the colors that move us.
