In the world of contemporary design, there is a distinct difference between a house that follows fleeting trends and a home that tells a deeply personal story. For this charming 600 sq. ft. residential project in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, titled ‘Sneh’, the team at Intchè Atelier set out to achieve the latter.

Founded by Principal Designer Chhaya Gianani, Intchè derives its name from a thoughtful combination of ‘Interior’ and ‘Rouche,’ symbolizing the seamless coming together of design, meticulous detail, and true craftsmanship. Guided by the core philosophy that luxury lies in purposeful planning rather than excess, this 3BHK home in Kanpur embodies a refined modern English aesthetic balanced with the practical needs of everyday family living.

What makes the execution of Sneh even more remarkable is its backstory. The homeowners were based in Ahmedabad throughout the entirety of the project. Despite the physical distance, virtual collaboration, meticulous digital detailing, and mutual trust allowed the design intent to be translated flawlessly into reality.

Spatial Highlights & Material Intent of this 3BHK home in Kanpur

By filtering out the excess and zeroing in on high-impact zones, the home’s layout maximizes both visual continuity and functional footprints.

The Serene Mandir Intervention

One of the home’s most defining architectural triumphs arose from a spatial constraint: the original layout lacked a dedicated mandir space. Intchè Atelier reimagined an overlooked alcove, transforming it into a tranquil sanctuary. Framed by a classic white arch and delicate, soft white drapery, the mandir features a glowing backdrop with an elegantly contoured silhouette. The warm, integrated lighting creates a serene halo effect over the sacred space, making it a central architectural feature rather than a mere afterthought.

Tactile Elegance in the Bedrooms

The design vocabulary relies heavily on a soft, neutral colour palette, layered textures, and tailored millwork to foster an atmosphere of understated sophistication:

Warm Tones: The main master suite wraps the occupant in comfort with padded headboards, ambient cove lighting, subtle wall mouldings, and a soft, textured area rug that anchors the bed.

Muted Greys & Sculptural Lines: A secondary bedroom space shifts toward a contemporary grey palette. Floor-to-ceiling sliding wardrobe panels feature a tactile, stone-like texture, beautifully balanced by precise, rounded arch detailing on the wall moulding above the channelled headboard. Sleek, black minimalist pendant lights drop elegantly over the nightstands to complete the look.

Bespoke Detailing: The attention to micro-details is evident in the custom joinery and ribbed wall panel textures showcased, bringing a sophisticated depth to the vertical surfaces without relying on bold colors.

Functional Living & Compact Kitchen Efficiency

The common areas prioritize clean lines, flow, and material longevity:

The Media Zone: The living area’s entertainment console showcases a polished, stone-textured backdrop with an asymmetrical curved edge, seamlessly integrated with an open, arched display column featuring glass shelves for books and personal artifacts.

Effortless Kitchen Footprint: The kitchen balances generous storage with an effortless workflow. Muted, wood-grained upper cabinets pair elegantly with fluted lower cabinetry and crisp white stone countertops, proving that compact spaces can perform beautifully without sacrificing high-end style.

Contemporary Bath Styling: The attention to detail extends into the vanity spaces, where a warm, slatted wood-paneled backdrop frames a large, back-lit mirror, illuminating double under-mount sinks set into a sleek black stone counter with matching earthy lower cabinetry.
