In the heart of Vadodara, Studio Kalavrit has sculpted a residence that transcends the traditional boundaries between a living space and an art gallery. Led by Principal Architect Rishabh Prajapati, "The Artful Abode" is a 1900 sq.ft. testament to the power of surface articulation and the profound impact of material-led design.
Instead of heavy structural overhauls, the home finds its soul in the "extraordinary edit", a philosophy where every texture, curve, and pigment is intentionally placed to evoke emotion.
A Prelude in Rose and Wood

The journey begins in a foyer that immediately challenges the mundane. A monolithic, cylindrical niche in a sophisticated dusty rose hue anchors the entrance, cradling a slender, elongated sculpture. This architectural gesture sets a tone of cultural grounding mixed with minimalist execution. The transition into the living area is seamless, guided by the warmth of natural wood veneers and a rhythmic play of light.
The Living Narrative

The heart of the home is a masterclass in visual balance. A sprawling botanical mural acts as a lush backdrop to a curated selection of furniture. Forest green armchairs with organic, vein-like patterns echo the greenery of a towering Fiddle Leaf Fig, while a neutral, bouclé-textured sofa provides a moment of repose.

Above, the ceiling is treated with the same architectural rigor as the walls, finished in rich wood planks that add a sense of enclosure and intimacy. It is a space that feels expressive without being overpowering, where the "handmade" is celebrated through subtle cane detailing and layered upholstery.
Independent Micro-Environments
The private quarters of The Artful Abode are conceived as a series of independent sanctuaries. Each bedroom tells a distinct story:

The Monochrome Master: Features a mesmerizing, psychedelic-inspired wave pattern on the headboard wall, balanced by deep charcoal wood panels and sleek, integrated lighting.

The Whimsical Retreat: Designed for the younger inhabitants, this room utilizes soft teal moldings to frame a playful, hand-painted mural of forest animals and biplanes, proving that high-design can still be joyful.

The Ethereal Blue: A guest suite that plays with texture through a fluted grey wall and a circular, 3D-textured artwork that mimics the ripples of water, perfectly complemented by a deep navy upholstered bed.
The Designer’s USP
What distinguishes this project is the integration of art as a primary spatial generator. Art isn't hung on the walls; it is embedded within the joinery, the headboards, and the very skin of the architecture. By utilizing a controlled palette of pastel lacquers, fluted glass, and soft radiused edges, Studio Kalavrit has created a home that feels both timeless and deeply personal.
